Born in Bafia, Cameroon, Issa Nlareb’s journey is nothing short of extraordinary. From humble beginnings, where he discovered golf by returning stray golf balls for a small sum, to becoming a champion across Africa, Issa has always defied the odds. Despite losing his mother at 11 and facing life on the streets, he rose through sheer determination and the kindness of mentors who believed in his potential.

In 2018, Issa’s life took a dramatic turn when bacterial meningitis led to the amputation of both legs and several fingers. What would have ended many dreams became a defining moment in Issa’s journey. Through relentless spirit and love for the game, he not only returned to golf but began competing, and winning, proving that limitations are only what we choose to make of them.

A Vision Beyond Limits

Today, Issa ranks 9th in the world in EDGA Paragolf, holds the top spot in his category in the U.S. Golf Association Adaptive Golf rankings, and competes professionally on the Alps Tour. But Issa doesn’t just aim to be a great adaptive golfer, he humbly believes he is the best player in the world, given the chance.

Issa’s passion for golf is contagious. He sees it as more than a game; it’s a tool to inspire, connect, and uplift others. Whether he’s competing, coaching, or sharing his story, Issa makes everyone around him believe in their own potential.

As a father of three, Issa’s sacrifices are immense. His recent trip to the PGA Show cost $3,200, a significant amount for someone from Cameroon. This trip allowed him to make valuable introductions and share his story with key figures in the golf world.
