Warrior Golf Academy (WGA) is a faith-driven initiative dedicated to empowering veterans, first responders, and individuals in need through the game of golf. As Military Veterans, Jonathan Sessa and Bill Poirier understand the challenges that come with transition, isolation, and finding renewed purpose. Our academy is built to restore, equip, and empower those who have served by providing career training, mentorship, and a community of faith and support.
Golf is more than just a game, it is a therapeutic tool that fosters healing, growth, and camaraderie. Many Veterans face challenges such as PTSD, depression, and the struggle to reconnect with civilian life. Through personalized training in caddying, golf operations, and course maintenance, WGA creates pathways for professional opportunities while ensuring participants experience the peace and purpose that come from faith, fellowship, and renewed confidence.

Meet the Leadership Team
Jonathan Sessa | Founder and CEO, Warrior Golf Academy
Jonathan Sessa is a dedicated PGA Coach, military Veteran, and the founder of Warrior Golf Academy (WGA). His mission is to empower Veterans, First Responders, and their Family through the game of golf, providing them with training, Career Pathways, and a faith-driven, supportive community.
After serving in the military, Jonathan discovered golf as a tool for healing, growth, and renewed purpose. Recognizing its profound impact on mental, physical, and emotional well-being, he pursued multiple golf certifications, including adaptive golf, caddying, and golf management, and is currently working toward his PGA Teaching Professional certification. His expertise enables him to design accessible programs that instill confidence, skill, and career readiness in the game of golf.
Jonathan is committed to mentorship, faith, and community-building. Through WGA, he provides free training, structured wellness programs, and professional development to help Veterans and First Responders successfully transition into the golf industry.
He believes that golf is more than just a sport, it is a pathway to healing, leadership, and transformation. Whether through personalized instruction, caddie training, or faith-based wellness initiatives, Jonathan ensures that those who have served are supported both on and off the course.

Bill Poirier | Board of Directors – Warrior Golf Academy
Bill Poirier is a retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel, PGA Associate, and President of Golf From the Heart. As a faith-driven mentor and co-founder of Players Outreach Ministry, Bill integrates golf instruction with spiritual growth to build purpose-filled communities.
At Warrior Golf Academy, he brings decades of leadership, discipleship, and service to help veterans and first responders find healing, connection, and opportunity through the game of golf.

We Fund the Blue Foundation
Founded by U.S. Army Veteran John Rourke, We Fund the Blue is a mission-driven nonprofit that serves America’s law enforcement, military personnel, and first responders through direct action. The foundation has donated over $60,000 to law enforcement agencies for critical gear, vehicle security, and life-saving resources like Narcan. Their rapid humanitarian responses include installing home water filtration systems in East Palestine, Ohio, following the toxic train derailment.
Shanks Golf Apparel
Born out of a love/hate relationship with golf, Shanks Golf was founded by three best friends who discovered the game during the pandemic and realized something was missing, golf apparel that actually works for Women. Their mission? To create stylish, comfortable, and empowering golf wear for Women of all ages, sizes, and backgrounds.

Combat Connect
